Hey girl, hey! You’re about to live your best life at Trinidad Carnival, and we’ve got your back every step of the way. Whether you’re a first-time traveler or seasoned carnival veteran, this guide has all the details —from booking flights to the perfect Trinidad carnival costumes. Let’s go!

1. Timeline: When and Why You Should Start Now

You finally decided to commit to planning for Trinidad Carnival 2026. Cool, here’s the tea: Carnival Monday is Feb 16, Carnival Tuesday is Feb 17, 2026. But from Feb 11–18, it’s nonstop partying across the entire island of Trinidad. Start planning now—because sis, flights, fetes, and costumes sell out quick.

Timeline Milestones:

  • July–September 2025: Book flights and hotels. As a matter fact, focus on your flight first, because you can always sleep in a box, if necessary. Just Kidding.

  • August–October 2025: Secure your Carnival Tuesday costume and participation in the road march with a big fat deposit, girl. This is kind of a big deal and the whole reason you’re even going to Trinidad Carnival.

  • September-October 2025: Arrange your hotel or guesthouse accommodations. Space is limited in Port-of Spain, so the earlier you book, the closer you’ll get to be next to the main festivities on the island. If you take too long with this step, you will be traveling from far to get to most events. How far is far? FAFO. Try 2 hours or more in traffic.

  • October-December 2025: Lock in your Trinidad carnival makeup appointments, order carnival tights and accessories, and definitely drop some coins on a few fete tickets.
  • January–February 2026: Finalize your beauty prep, photography, luggage, safety items, and island transportation.

Staying ahead = no stress, just vibes.

2. Flights: Secure That Ticket to Trinidad Carnival

You deserve to get to Trinidad stress-free. The airport code is POS, and you can catch direct flights to Port-of-Spain from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, New York, Toronto, Orlando, and Houston.

  • Your go-to airlines are going to be Caribbean Airlines, American Airlines, Jet Blue, and United Airlines.

  • Your second bet, is looking for flights on and off the island with regional airlines that travel to the smaller islands or countries like Liat, Cayman Airways, and Trans Guyana Airways.

  • Your third option getting on the island is by boat. But not just any boat, it’s a special 10-day cruise operated by Royal Caribbean via My Epic Carnival that that goes directly from Puerto Rico to Port-of-Spain. No stops.

Pro Tip: If you are looking to save money, you start your search for carnival flights early, in early July. This is literally going to be the cheapest these flights ever going to be. Once airlines secure a few hundred paid seats, those prices are going to go up, big time.

3. Trinidad Hotels & Guesthouses: Where to Crash

Port of Spain is your Carnival Headquarters. Listen up here. Finding accommodations in Trinidad is not for the faint-hearted. The prices you encounter are not normal on any level. We’re talking upwards of $500-$800 a night. And that’s U.S. Dollars, girl. And most (if not all) places require a 5-night minimum for the duration of the last and most populated carnival weekend. So once, you wrap your head around that then you can proceed.

  • If your priority is about safety and luxe feels, then you want to stick to International hotel chains like The Hilton, The Hyatt Regency, and  Courtyard by Marriott. Also, look into that 10-day carnival cruise we talked about earlier on Royal Caribbean because that knocks out your travel and accommodation in one booking.

  • If your priority is about saving a little money and getting your steps in, then you look for guesthouses via Google, Expedia, or AirBnB in the surrounding areas Woodbrook, St James, Maraval, Morvant, and St. Ann’s.

  • If your priority is saving lots of money and don’t mind a drive to get to most places, then you look for AirBnBs and guesthouses in Diego Martin, Arima, Chaguanas, and San Juan.
  • If you ain’t trying to spend no money because you have things like mortgage, rent, car note (you know – bills back at home lol) then you need to find the number to your uncle, cousin, tanty, college friend, and ask to bunk at their place for a few days. Of course, the proper thing to do would be to pay for food and gas, while you’re there.

Pro Tip: be wary. If you see guesthouse listings for near Piarco airport, Trincity, or San Fernando – it’s a good guess that you would be easily a 45-minute to an hour drive away from most fetes and the Carnival Monday and Tuesday road march itself. Bottom Line: Book early.

4. Carnival Costumes: Find ah Band

Choosing your band is the main move. Bands like YUMA, Spirit, Tribe, Bliss,  Paparazzi each bring a different energy—choose wisely .
Plus, you can expect costumes to easily cost between $500 and $2,500 depending on front- or backline. If these prices sound cray cray, keep in mind that you’re not just paying for the costume, you;re paying for 2 days of open bar, 12-14 hours of nonstop dj entertainment, 2 meals, security, and bathroom accommodations.

Once you pay your deposit for your Carnival Tuesday costume, you’d want to purchase other items to help you feel more comfortable in these dazzling but barely-there costumes.

  • Carnival Monday Monokini – the brighter the better
  • V-cut Stockings – to allow your belly button and belly button ring to get some shine
  • Nipple Covers – because honey, the girls will be on full display in some of the more revealing costumes.
  • Handheld Portable Fan – because unless you have been physically living in the Caribbean the past 6 months, you not ready for the type ah heat that Trinidad is going to give you.
  • Walking Shoes or Sneakers – only if you care more about comfort. If not, then skip on over to the next option.
  • High-knee flat boots – this is a viable option if you sacrifice comfort for style. Your feet won’t hurt, but it sure would be hot
  • Illuminating Body Oil – so you can have a subtle sun-kissed glow. Not over powering and just the right amount of shimmer to not look like a Halloween experiment.
  • Luminous Lip Gloss – ’cause duh, you need your lips to stay moisturized and looking juicy in the sun
  • Belt Bag – This bag is perfect for Carnival Monday.  It’s durable and comfortably holds your phone, keys, lip gloss, and ID.
